Well, actually this thing mostly depends on one's personal preference. But in my opinion, if you are a budget-friendly car enthusiast, a car with a manual transmission would most likely be your first crush. And to support my words, I have gathered up some of the points you would like to read.
Better Control:
If you have a manual transmission in your car, you can understand this point very well. A car with manual transmission has full control over the road. You know when it is the optimum time to shift the gear and throw the required power towards the engine. Whether its a straight flat road or a hilly pathway, you know which gear will be the best for that particular situation.
Less Expensive to Purchase and Maintain:
If you are going for a manual car, you may find it cheaper than the automatic one because of the less complexity involved in it. It is just a manual mechanical gearbox which can cut off a lot of price as compared to an automatic transmission car. Its maintenance will also be cheaper as compared to an automatic transmission car.
Better Fuel Efficiency:
As the manual transmission cars are less expensive, less complex, easier to handle and gives you full control on the road, it can save you some fuel as well by throwing only the required power towards the engine, no more or less. Eventually, you will end up getting more mileage as compared to the automatic ones.
Less Likely to be Stolen:
In this modern era, where most of the people do have an automatic transmission vehicle, a whole generation is now adopting the use of new transmission system and getting lesser familiar with the manual one day by day. So, just in case if a thief tries to inspect your vehicle, preparing himself to steal it, a glance at its manual transmission may convince him to change his mind.
But....
I can't say that manual transmission is all time the best thing you can get in a car. It has some cons too. For example, it is very tiresome in heavy traffic where you have to optimize your gears according to the situation. Not lifting up your foot from the clutch can cause pain in the leg muscles as well. You also get a hard time learning a manual transmission car as compared to the automatic one. And also, if it is less expensive to buy, then its also cheaper to sell. So one should keep these cons in their mind too, before going to buy a manual transmission car.
Conclusion:
It eventually depends on the person whether they prefer a manual or an automatic transmission car. Some people may consider an automatic over a manual one because it is easy to drive, shifts are quick and smooth and has a good resale value. So it really comes all down to the buyer's perspective. However, as I've mentioned in the title earlier, a budget-friendly car enthusiast might prefer manual over automatic.
