PUBG Gets Unbanned In Pakistan

IHC of Pakistan has finally ordered to unban the online multiplayer game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) and the youth is finally happy.

Islamabad High Court has finally released the orders to unban the game 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and most of the youth are celebrating.

The court finally releases the statement to lift up the ban placed on 1st of July, 2020 by PTA. Also, the court has issued a direct verdict to PTA to further notify them about the stakeholders and to make further decisions regarding to put the ban on the game again.

Anyways, in my opinion, it is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. Our youth, including me, was really getting addicted to it and now as there were some days off PUBG, I think I really was able to spare a few moments to look into my life to see where it was going. At the time when things were normal with PUBG, I was pretty addicted to it and used to play the game all day and all night. And during the ban period, things were different. I started to keep myself busy in various activities like some physical exertions, spare some time to organize my stuff, give time to my family etc. I did notice how my family were amazed to see me off that game after a long time and really I felt that change as well.

Although we are going through the quarantine phase, we could've made our lives better in a number of ways instead of sitting in one place all day, doing nothing but playing PUBG all the time.

Also, I found this game to be depressing and causing stress amongst our youth. Depression can be caused in a number of ways while playing this game like a person really does not like to get kicked from an active clan due to the lack of its contribution in it. And in order to achieve that state of victory, they really struggle hard to find their way to the top, no matter how much they mess up their daily routine, get scolded by their parents whatsoever.  Also, the hunger to get the chicken dinner makes a person stressed while playing to make sure not to miss their chance to become the number one in the battleground.

I cannot say that the way was all bad. There were some good aspects as like it was really a time-pass to a person who gets bored in this phase of quarantine. People who do have nothing to do can easily consume their free time while playing this game. It also was a good source of communication between different people or a group of friends, where they can interact with each other, discuss gaming strategies, joke around etc. So it is not all on the dark side.

This is somewhat of a marketing strategy that the game itself was designed in such a way that a person can get really addicted to it if they start to understand its mechanics. The fun marketing factor of this game was the ability to play it with the group of friends, make your own clans and join crews. The ability to interact with people in such an easy way makes it able to gather more and more audience for the game itself.

The question arises that why the game was banned in the first place? and the people who were against the game mentioned, "The game is addictive, time-consuming and has a drastic effect on the people who are addicted to it, both physically and psychologically". Numerous death cases were reported as well due to the lack of sleep, depression and anxiety amongst the youth. That could've been a reason as well

As for now, the news is that the ban has been lifted from the game which was placed temporarily on July 1st, 2020. And no further situation has been updated till now.

What do you think, was it the right decision to lift the ban from the game which was reportedly claimed to cause this depression, anger and frustration amongst the youth? Do let me know.

Thank you for sparing your time reading this.

  1. Right thing to do..!! Parents are responsible for children and Mature people are responsible for themselves. Banning is not the solution
